Meet Summer
If you’re here, it’s probably because things feel heavy right now — for your child, for you, or for your family as a whole. Maybe your child is having big feelings they can’t quite put into words, or you’ve noticed them pulling away, melting down, or struggling to feel confident. Maybe you’re doing everything you can, but still find yourself wondering, “What else can I do to help my child feel safe and happy again?”
You are not alone!
I’m Summer, and I specialize in helping families with children from birth through age 10 rebuild connection, regulation, and resilience — supporting healing from stress and trauma through playful, creative, and attachment-focused therapy.
In my virtual playroom, children don’t have to explain what’s wrong—they can show me through their play, imagination, and creativity. Using Play Therapy, Sandtray Therapy, and EMDR, I help them express what words can’t always capture and build the inner tools they need to feel safe, seen, and capable. For parents, I offer support and guidance to help you better understand your child’s world and bring more connection and joy into your relationship.
Together, we can create a space where healing feels possible—where your child can be a child again, and where you can feel hope taking root.
How I’m Trained to Help
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the state of Illinois and a Certified Autplay Therapy Provider. I specialize in working with children and their families from birth through 10 years old.
My work focuses on helping children heal from trauma, strengthen emotional regulation, and build healthy relationships through the healing power of play and connection. I have a special interest in supporting neurodivergent children, helping them build regulation, confidence, and connection through playful, relationship-based experiences.
I offer individual, family, and group therapy, as well as therapy intensives designed to support deeper, more focused work over a shorter period of time. My approach integrates evidence-based methods such as play therapy, sandtray therapy, EMDR, Theraplay-informed interventions, AutPlay, Synergetic Play Therapy-informed interventions, and FirstPlay. I also draw from attachment theory, polyvagal-informed interventions, and expressive modalities to create developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed experiences tailored to each child and family.
In addition to my clinical work with children and families, I provide professional consultation for therapists and helping professionals interested in integrating play therapy, EMDR, and attachment-based approaches into their own practice.

I am a private pay practice, which means I do not work with insurance companies. It allows us to focus entirely on what your child and family truly need—without insurance dictating session length, frequency, or type of treatment.
Private pay also protects your child’s privacy. Insurance reimbursement requires a mental health diagnosis, which becomes part of your child’s permanent health record. By working privately, I can provide developmentally appropriate support without labeling or limiting your child. Together, we create a plan that fits your child—not an insurance company’s checklist. -
I do not provide superbills or documentation for insurance reimbursement. All services are private pay, allowing the focus to remain on personalized, relationship-based care rather than meeting insurance requirements.

It is natural to wonder how therapy through a screen can work, especially for young children. My virtual sessions are not screen time in the usual sense. Instead of passively watching, your child is actively engaged through play, storytelling, art, movement, and imagination.
During sessions I may use tools such as the Virtual Sandtray Therapy App, a virtual play therapy room, or simple objects your child already has at home. Everything is flexible so the experience feels natural and familiar.
I specialize in play therapy and expressive approaches that bring the child’s inner world to life, even through a screen. I also guide parents in creating a safe and connected space that reflects the feeling of an in person playroom. Many families find that children relax more easily in their own environment, which often allows for deeper engagement and meaningful progress.

Group therapy can be a wonderful way for children to learn and grow alongside peers who are working on similar goals. In a supportive, play-based setting, children practice important skills like emotional regulation, social problem-solving, and confidence—all through activities that feel fun and natural.
For some children, a group is the best place to build real-life skills in a safe, guided environment. Others may join a group in addition to individual therapy to reinforce what they’re learning and to experience success with peers.
Groups are especially helpful for children who:
Benefit from extra social practice and peer connection
Have mild to moderate challenges (rather than intensive treatment needs)
Thrive with structure, routine, and hands-on learning
Each group I facilitate is small, play-based, and designed to meet children where they are—helping them feel seen, capable, and supported by both peers and caring adults.

An intensive offers more time and space than a typical session. It allows us to slow down, focus deeply, and create meaningful change in a shorter period of time. Intensives are a good fit for families who want focused support or who are working through something that needs extra care and attention.
